We are confident you know how to use Google, but we have taken the liberty of putting together this little Bootcamp 2019 Travel Kit in order to help make the planning of your Helsinki trip run smoothly.  It contains a map with the important locations of the week, an overview of different options for transport from the airport, a list of some convenient accommodation alternatives, and a small restaurant guide.

We hope you it comes in handy when planning your trip to Helsinki.

Transportation

In true, Finnish spirit, we will be brutally honest with you; getting from the airport to the Aalto campus can be a bit of a struggle. If you are traveling with luggage, we do recommend taking a taxi. There are several taxi companies located at the airport, usually there is only two-three Euros to save by choosing one over the other. The trip from the airport to Aalto should cost around 65 EUR, and take about 35 minutes.

Taxi

Public Transport

There is also the option of public transport. HSL provides the public transportation in the greater Helsinki area, and their travel planner app is worth every MB of phone memory, it enables you to plan your trip as well as buy the necessary tickets. The easiest way to get from the airport to the campus area is to go by train to Helsinki city center, then go by metro to the stop called Aalto University. As you cross zones, you will have to purchase a regional ticket to the price of 5,50 EUR. The trip should take about an hour.

UBER

Uber is present in Helsinki, but the amount of drivers are limited, and the prices tend to be about the same as with a traditional taxi.
